During the 32nd edition of the Canada Awards for Excellence, which took place yesterday in Toronto, SOPREMA was awarded the Gold Prize in the Healthy Workplace category.
Organized by Excellence Canada, this annual awards program recognizes the outstanding achievements of organizations in the private, public, and non-profit sectors across Canada that are actively implementing strategies to improve the mental and physical health and safety of their employees, to create a healthy work environment and a culture that attracts and retains the best talents.
Certified ‘Healthy Company – Elite’ since 2012, SOPREMA has implemented several initiatives in terms of physical and mental health, safety and welfare of its employees in recent years. The multinational company’s actions cover four aspects: lifestyle, management practices, work environment and work-life balance. Specifically, SOPREMA offers a free sports complex for employees including training equipment, a training classroom and a squash court in the workplace, all supervised by trainers and kinesiologists. The organization of lectures on motivation and self-esteem, the development of social activities and the monthly distribution of free fruit to all employees are other examples of good practices carried out by SOPREMA.
“The greatest strength of SOPREMA is our team, and nothing is more important than the health and safety of all employees. It is an honour for us to see our efforts recognized nationally,” said Richard Voyer, Vice-President and CEO of SOPREMA North America.
